The St. Regis Resort & Residences, Ft. Lauderdale opened on May 17, 2007.  The recent trend on the Famous Beach Strip is ultra luxury resorts.  This is the second resort to open on the beach in the past year. (Trump and W soon to follow).

Here is a quick fact sheet on the property:
Rooms:   166 guest rooms and suites, 34 hotel condominiums.
Views:    Atlantic Ocean (across A1A - perfect view) or the Intercoastal.
In-Room Features:   
      -Wi Fi Internet Access.
      - DVD theater entertainment system with 32" LCD TV.
      -13" LCD panel TV in the bathroom
      - refrigerated mini-cellar.
      -In room 'Butler' service.
Meeting Space: 24,000 sq. feet
Recreation:   
     - Uh...the ocean right across the street.  (They are building a skyway to the beach.)
     - zero entry pool on the 7th floor overlooking the beach.
     - Pool bar and grill.
     - 10 cabanas with Wi Fi, flat screen TVs and waiter service.
Dining:
State of the art Spa.  (what high end hotel doesn't have a Spa?)

You also have a personal 'Butler' at your disposal to care for any need (well almost any need).

They are not rated yet as the Moble diamond rating system usually takes a year to get to new properties, but they anticipate a 5-diamond rating.

I'll write our 'review' of the communal areas and overall property feel on a separate entry.  (I don't think they'll show us a room.)  Along with if we think this will 'fit in' with the surrounding area.
