Florida Sales Tax Holiday - June 1 through June 12

For those of you that are not aware, Florida has a sales tax 'holiday' on hurricane supplies once a year.  This is quite helpful to every resident, but also can help out any tourists that happen to be here June 1 - 12 this year.  The list of items exempt from sales tax during these 12 days is quite long.  Lets hope we won't need the supplies this year.

The list is quite long, so here is a link to a .pdf file for more information:

Some items tourists might find useful:
Items $10 or less:
Re-usable ice (those blue things you re-use.  Great for your cooler at the beach.)

Items $20 or less:
Flashlights, lanterns (for those late beach nites.)

Items $30 or less:
Batteries!  (for those that do not use iPods..and batteries for the lanterns/flashlights).

Other Items:
Cellphone chargers
Cellphone batteries
Two way radios
Battery or self powered radio ($75 or less).
plus many more items.

So check your receipts these 12 days...and be sure you're not being charged.

And to fellow residents...lets all keep our fingers crossed to get a storm season like last year.
