New Hotel-Marina Going Through Planning Stages
A longtime local Ft. Lauderdale attorney and developer is looking to tear down the pink plaza and Best Western Hotel and marina located on the Southeast 17th Street Causeway in east Fort Lauderdale.
Ron Mastriana and his development team, want to build The Sails hotel-marina-shops. The project plans for a 350 room hotel, 5-story parking garage, dry-dock storage for 150 boats, 5 mega-yacht slips and 30 smaller boat slips and finally 2,000 linear feet of wet dockage. The project also includes retail shops, 2 restaurants and 2 bars on the ground level.
The project was denied in February by the city's Planning and Zoning Board. The developer appealed to the City Commission, which granted him a hearing set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
Looks like there still is development around the area after all.
