Although Aventura Mall is located in Miami Dade County, it's easily accessible to Ft. Lauderdale.  It's about a 15 minute drive south of Downtown Ft. Lauderdale (on I-95). 

The new 'wing' will be anchored by Nordstrom's.  The only other Nordstrom's in South Florida is found at the Boca Towne Center (north of Lauderdale).  This will be a welcomed addition to the area and once opened will place Aventura Mall in the list of 'largest malls' in the country.  It's currently being constructed and they are hoping to open by the Holiday Season.  I passed by a few weeks ago and it looks like all the walls are up.

I always liked Nordstrom's and hope they eventually plan to open in Galleria Mall.  Since Lord & Taylor closed many stores, the space has sat empty.
