Hollywood Ready to Open New and Improved Parks

Hollywood, Florida has been working on improving many parks throughout the city and have also been constructing a new fire rescue building.  The $54 million projects have been funded by a 2004 bond passed by voters.  It also includes improvements to the police building.

The larger of the projects is the Eco Walk, an area within the 23-acre waterfront Holland Park on Johnson Street and N. Northlake Drive at the Intercoastal.  They are replacing all of the park's wooden planks and fixtures.  This will lead visitors through the Mangrove Trees and along the Intercoastal.  New picnic pavilions and restrooms are also part of the plan.

They are hoping the ribbon cutting ceremony will be mid-July.  The other major renovations to other parks are slated for a fall 2007 completion date.
