New Park in Wilton Manors to Open by Mid-Summer.
Wilton Manors (just minutes from Downtown Ft. Lauderdale) will be opening it's new signature park in mid-Summer. Richardson Park has been in development for a few years and the project had a few minor setbacks. Hurricane Wilma cleared out much of the natural tree canopy and the historical building has been subjected to a leaky roof.
The trees have come back and the roof of the building will be repaired over the next few months. The park is located on the south fork of the Middle River and is 5.4 acres. When completed the park will boast:
49 space parking lot
264 foot long elevated boardwalk
2,880 foot long walkway
boat dock
lighting fixtures
renovation to the inside large manor house and carriage house which dates back to 1925
The park will be a great addition to the city and will fit in nicely with the new City Hall building planned about a block away.
The park is located at 1937 Wilton Drive.
