Dining in Ft. Lauderdale - Galanga Thai Kitchen & Sushi (in Wilton Manors)

Galanga is located in Wilton Manors, about 2 miles north of Downtown.  Wilton Manors holds one of the county's highest concentration of gay couples.  Once a run-down neighborhood, it's now a thriving 'village' with new condo's, fixed up houses and a booming entertainment district.  Galanga opened about 4 years ago in an old 'Wolf's Camera' free standing building.  Since it opened, it's done great business.

I've been a few times, but last Friday was Jeff's first.  We went a bit early to beat the rush. (Weekends tend to be quite busy on 'the Drive'.)  The inside is very relaxing and they also have patio dining. We chose to stay inside with the Air Conditioning.

The only negative we have about the interior is the acoustics.  Once you have a few people in there, it gets very hard to hear.  A large party was sat behind us and we found ourselves going "what?....I didn't hear you".  It was distracting, but not a deal breaker for a future visit.

The food was excellent.  We started with the spicy calamari.  Fresh and spicy.  We both got curry chicken...Jeff got the Yellow Curry and I got the Red.  Food was tasty and hot.  Our bill was around $40 with tip and 2 soft drinks.  Not too bad.  They also have a sushi bar.

Wilton Drive is quite the spot to hang out on the weekends.  Restaurants, shopping and bars/nightclubs are all within walking distance.  Galanga has valet parking or if you prefer to self park, street parking is free (but limited.)  If you like Thai food, we highly recommend Galanga.

I just have a shot of the inside...not the best pic, but at least it gives you an idea.
