The St. Regis Resort - Ft. Lauderdale Beach...Pictures.
The St. Regis Resort - Ft. Lauderdale Beach has been open for a month. We finally got down to the beach to take a few pictures. It was a holiday...and early in the morning so it was a bit light in people traffic.
The resort is a few blocks down from the Trump, W and new Hilton. St. Regis is located right next to the Beach Place entertainment complex. Beach Place was built years ago and was good for the time...but I personally think it needs a face lift. There are restaurants and bars which are popular (Hooter, Sloppy Joe's, Howl at the Moon, etc.) but all of the retail shops have closed or are..well less than upscale. I really think they should redevelop the property and get some high end stores to make it more of a destination shopping plaza. I'll post some info on Beach Place soon.
It looks like the new 'luxury' hotels they are opening are more of along the lines of a 'boutique' hotel. There isn't a big lobby with a ton of restaurants. The St. Regis lobby is bigger than the new Hilton's and look much nicer. It's decorated in earth, beach tones and there are 2 restaurants at the beach entrance with dining patios. Here are some pictures of the exterior and a few of the lobby. I did an entry about the amenities a few weeks ago, so if you are interested in the details...search for the St. Regis using the Quicksearch feature to the right.
Jeff outside the Beach Entrance.

The inside Lobby.

The Patio with lots of shade...and direct view of the ocean.

The side view of The Regis Resort.
