Beach Place Ft. Lauderdale - Is it out of place?

Beach Place Ft. Lauderdale was the city's answer to the mega-entertainment plaza.  It was a good plan.  Centrally located at the main strip on Ft. Lauderdale Beach, a new Marriott Hotel, new restaurants and shopping.  Well, in my opinion...Beach Place has been neglected in the past few years and needs help to find its way.

The retail store selection is quite slim.  There are many empty stores which makes the property feel depressing.  There are restaurants and bars on the top floors which seem to get business, but for how much longer?  The Ft. Lauderdale scene is changing and Beach Place needs to keep up.  With all of the upscale hotels opening in the area, does Hooters really fit in?  I think they need to give Beach Place a face lift and get some stores in that will make it a must 'shop' destination.  Something that will appeal to the new Ft. Lauderdale Beach traveler.  With all of the condo's and foot traffic, I'm sure the right store, restaurant choices will keep the place humming.

The restaurants aren't bad...just kind of typical.  It's a nice spot to get the view and some food.  The Palm Grill is good and cheep.  They used to be Max's Grill and was featured on $40 a day with Rachael Rae.  They have $5.99 lunch specials with burgers, pizza to baked chicken.  Great for the traveler on a budget.  Howl at the Moon is fun if you like to sing and drink.  Sloppy Joe's have good drinks in a bucket.  Funny as I'm typing that...it all feels kind of Spring Breaky.
