Allegiant Air to Expand Ft. Lauderdale Flights.
It's reported that Allegiant Air plans to expand it's South Florida market. They plan to base 2 aircrafts at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and also set up a crew base for flight attendants and pilots.
Allegiant is another low cost airlines that is going to be pairing with hotels in the area to create vacation packages. The airfare cost may start in the $120-160 range.
They currently service smaller airports and have a fleet of older 'small' MD-80 aircrafts. Ft. Lauderdale will be the 2nd largest airport they will serve (other than Las Vegas). It isn't known weather or not FTL-Vegas flights will be offered at this time. Currently, they fly to cities such as Knoxville, TN, Peoria IL, Clearwater FL.
I don't know anyone that has flown this airline...so if anyone has any stories, feel free to leave a comment. I'd also read the 'refund' policy if you are booking a package (air and hotel). With the summer storms (thunder and tropical), you never know.
So keep an eye out for the new service to/from Ft. Lauderdale. Here is their website:
