Dining in Ft. Lauderdale - Renegade Barbeque Company - Seminole Paradise @ The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
While at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino recently, we decided to try one of the many restaurants located in the Paradise Entertainment Complex. It was lunchtime and we were in the mood for some BBQ. We've walked by the Renegade Barbeque Company many times and decided to give it a try.
The restaurant is fairly large with booth seating and tables. It was early for lunch, so it wasn't very busy and we got our pick of tables. We chose to be by the window...it overlooks the small lake outside. The ceilings are high and the whole restaurant is done in earth tones. Rich woods and leathers with some Indian art decorate the dining room. The kitchen is open, so you can see the staff at work as well.
Our server was friendly and very attentive. We both had sodas and the refills were quick so we never went dry. She chatted us a bit then took our order. We started with the Frog Leg appetizer. I know, not everyone is really up for some frog legs...but I've always liked them. They were served hot and lightly breaded. They were really moist and probably one of the best orders I've had in quite a long time. The dipping sauce was slightly sweet and spicy which added a nice flavor.
For our main lunch, we went for the 1/2 Smoked Rotisserie Chicken and the BBQ Pork Poker Plate. The chicken came with 2 sides...we chose Smashed, smoked potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The pork plate didn't have a choice of sides as it was more of a 'medley' of different items.
The chicken was great, but the white meat was a little dry. With some BBQ sauce you couldn't even tell. The sides were 'ok'. The mac and cheese was my favorite of the two. The pork dish was actually really good. It's pulled BBQ pork, served over seasoned steak fries, onions, peas and BBQ sauce. It was a strange combination, but the uniqueness added to the flavor. I would recommend that dish to anyone that enjoys pork and fries.
Overall the bill came out to $43 with tip. Not really that inexpensive for lunch, but I find quality BBQ to be in the higher price range anyway...maybe more of a special occasion lunch (if you didn't lose much on the slots!) They have everything from ribs to sandwiches as well. The menu is posted outside the restaurant...so if you are at the Hard Rock and looking for a meal, I'd say to check them out.
