Gulfstream Casino Now Has 1 Cent Machines.

Well I finally made it back to Gulfstream Racing and Casino in Hallandale Beach and let me say I actually had a good time.

We got there at about 4:30 PM today (Friday).  The old parking lot along US1 is now being turned into the Village at Gulfstream.  It's all tore up and there is actually construction going on.  You can see some steel framing of the buildings.  This is a great sign that the project is moving forward.

The new parking lot is located on the North side of the property and they have shuttle carts to take you to the main building.  It's not that far to walk, but I suppose some might find the service useful.  The Valet service is also FREE! (Well you still need to tip).

The casino on the ground floor is currently closed.  This is where they are going to do some 'renovation' which includes a food court and a new Sports Book Lounge.  This was the 'newer' casino room that was recently opened.  (Rushed open in my opinion...it was boring and more of a room with slots.)

The casino upstairs is open and was actually quite busy.  They have reshuffled the machines and now have REAL penny machines!  They actually have quite a few 1 and 2 cent slots now so there is plenty of space for the casual gamer.  Some of the pulls were 9 lines at 1 credit which turned out to be only 9 cents a pull. (12 with the bonus feature enabled.)  The payout isn't that great...but when you are talking about such low amounts of bet options, who cares.  You have to remember they do have to make some money.  We spent about 2 hours there and I lost $30 and Jeff lost $20.  Not too bad and it was actually fun.  There were some big payouts of 300 credits ($3.00) but of course we put it back into the machines.

Once the Village at Gulfstream opens, they have the potential to take on the Seminoles.  The Village will have restaurants, shopping and a movie theater.  Lets hope the management staff of the casino and the Village work well together.

If you haven't been back to Gulfstream in a while, give them another shot.  I think they are on the right track and give them credit for listening to their customers.
