Seminole/Crist Compact Officially in Effect
The Compact to allow expanded gaming at the Florida Seminole casinos is officially in effect. It is filed in the US Registry and the first $50 million payment to the state of Florida has been made.
But...don't run to the Hard Rock or Coconut Creek casino and expect to find Vegas Style Slots or Blackjack quite yet. The slot machines have been ordered and still must be installed. Dealers have to be hired and trained. That could take months.
Also...if the State Legislatures are successful on getting the compact overturned...the state might have to pay the Seminole's the $50 million back...and the gaming expansion process would start all over. This time I'm sure the Seminoles would try for Vegas Style slots with NO payments to the state.
