CompUSA might have some life after all.

The 106 stores around the US were sold last year and have all been running the liquidation sales.  They are all expected to be closed by next month.  South Florida has 7 stores in South Florida and the inventory is actually going quite quickly.

However, it was recently disclosed that another group, Systemax Inc. (based in NY), has agreed to purchase 16 CompUSA existing stores in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.  Specific locations have not been disclosed as of yet due to ongoing negotiations.  Systemax said that the 16 stores would compliment it's TigerDirect subsidiary (with stores in Miami, IL, SC and Canada).

Lets hope we get to keep ours down in South Florida.  We need to competition in the electronics market.  And as I said in a previous post...I sure hate to see empty retail stores along US1 in Ft. Lauderdale.
