Restaurant Review - Kyojin Buffet (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

Let me start by saying....I love this place.  I can't count how many times I've been to this location (3485 N. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale) and it never lets me down.  Kyojin is a Japanese buffet with a huge selection of sushi.  Now if you are not a sushi lover...don't worry.  They have so many other options to choose from...you won't know where to begin.

The restaurant itself is located next to the City Furniture (across from Target) on US1.  It's more of an 'upscale' buffet.  I've always found the place clean and the service quite good.  When I say 'upscale'... I'm kind of comparing it to other 'Asian cuisine' buffets around.  The atmosphere is family oriented and casual.  They serve lunch and dinner.  There is a price break between lunch and dinner.  With that you will find a few less items out for lunch (which you won't really miss).  They even have lower prices for lunch during the week.

The restaurant is set up very nicely.  On one side you have the 'chilled' salad type dishes along with a huge sushi station.  I mean it's HUGE.  The sushi rollers are actually constantly putting fresh items out from right behind the counter.  They keep the portions smaller to ensure the freshness.  At the end of the sushi station...you find the 'cooked to order' Hibachi Giller.  You pick your meat and veggies, then decide on a sauce.  The guy behind the grill then cooks it right in front of you.  You can't get fresher than that!

If you still haven't found what you are looking for...there is another 'station' in the middle of the service area.  Here you will find soups (Wanton, Miso, etc.) along with traditional Japanese fare like Tempura Veggies and Panko Breaded Shrimp to name a few.  You will also find some Chinese dishes as well.  My favorite is the grilled chicken.  It tastes like it was just taken off the BBQ.  Kids will be happy as well....with french fries, rice, noodles and lots more.

Then you have the last 'station'.  This is where they keep the crab legs (dinner item)...peel and eat shrimp...crawfish (on occasion).  On the other side of those chilled items...you find the desserts.  Ice cream and cakes along with jell-o and fruits.

I've gone to many Asian type buffets and can say that this is my absolute favorite.  I love the variety and also love that you can eat kind of healthy if you stick to the sushi and grilled items.  The hibachi is a great touch as well.

For a little over $20 for 2 people on a Saturday for lunch, you can sample all kinds of food and feel like you totally got you fill and your money's worth.  A hard thing to find in the area sometimes.

I took a few pictures...but the ones inside didn't really do them justice.
