The Galleria Mall (Ft. Lauderdale) knows how to 'Food Court' - a review.
Galleria Mall sure has changed in the 8 years I've lived here. Once a dead, outdated place to shop...it's now one hip cool place. They've not only given the place a much needed face lift, they added on a new whole new section. Among the upgrades is the new Food Court.... named 'Piazza di Giorgio'. It must be one of the nicest food courts I have seen. It even rivals some I have seen on the Las Vegas Strip. The decor has an 'Italian' feel and they even have the ceiling painted to look as if you are outside (sky blue with white puffy clouds).
The concept is a bit different. There are no 'chain' restaurants here. You have different 'stations' that offer different types of food. You can actually pick and choose from the different themed stations and then only pay once on your way to the dining area. I'll run down some of the stations. They all have special Italian names...but I'll just refer to them in a way that helps explain what each offers:
-The Pizza station. Here they actually make the personal pizzas fresh for you in a pizzeria style oven! The ingredients are fresh and it's actually really good pizza.
-The 'Mexican' station. Nachos, Quesadilla, Taco Salads and Fajitas. They have it all. They press/grill the quesadillas while you wait. The nachos come with 'liquid' cheese, not really my favorite, but the other toppings are fresh.
-The Turkey station. They have roasted turkey plates and sandwiches. Think Thanksgiving all year. There is always a line for this station.
-The Asian station. Chinese and Japanese food here. You can get fresh tempura, pot stickers and even some sushi. They do have Bourbon Chicken as well.
-The Burger and Latin station. This one is a mix. They have some Latin food choices along with flame broiled burgers, cheese steaks and chicken sandwiches.
-The Deli station. Huge sandwiches. From cold to hot pressed. They also have a large variety of pasta salads. One of my favorite stations.
-The Salad Station. Another one of my favorites. This is almost like the chain 'Salad Creations'. You can choose the specialty salad from the board...or make your own. Endless options here. They have grilled chicken and fish too.
-The Fruit and Gelato station. This one is HUGE. They have tons of fresh fruit. My mouth waters whenever I walk by.
-The Coffee and Cookie station. Any type of caffeine beverage is served here. I want to say they might even serve beer and wine. (not 100% sure though). Fresh pastries and cookies too.
The average cost for 2 is about $20...and you don't have to tip! Oh...fountain drinks have FREE refills too. For a quick meal on the go...this place is perfect.
