Restaurant Review: Sea Ranch Diner, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea isn't your typical overpriced tourist beach town, however you still need to be wise if you don't want to spend $8 or $9 for a breakfast.  (There is one place close to the beach that seems a bit high in price.)

Yesterday, after walking the beach we decided to check out the Publix Supermarket that is a few blocks down from Commercial Blvd (north).  It's actually in a small 'strip' mall about one block from the beach.  As we approached the store, we noticed a sign for the 'Sea Ranch Diner'.  Since it was 7:45 AM we decided to check it out for our breakfast.

It's a local diner that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They have a patio dining area that is actually quite large which seems to be popular.  The inside dining room was very large as well, but there wasn't anyone eating inside.  We sat down and were greeted right away.  Slowly the patio area filled up and the place was buzzing.  We both ordered 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast.  They had everything from waffles, pancakes to 3 egg omelets.  They also had a 'specials' board that seemed to have some great deals.

The food came out quite fast.  Overall the food was pretty good.  My eggs were over hard (as I like them) and the bacon was actually thick and seemed like it was fresh.  The home fries were GREAT.  They were still hot!  They were crispy on one side and soft and buttery on the other.  The best part was the price.  For the 2 breakfast plates and 2 sodas the bill came to $15 plus tip.  That's actually a GREAT price for being in such a tourist area and about a block or so from the beach.

Overall, this will probably be my breakfast spot anytime I hit Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.  Can't beat the price and the service was also spot on.
