Ft. Lauderdale wants public's opinion on new Sunrise Blvd. bridge.

Ft. Lauderdale listen up.  The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking your input in replacing the Sunrise Blvd bridge.  This is the bridge that links US1 to A1A (by Galleria Mall/Borders).  The bridge is one of 24 in the state that the FDOT are ruling ''structurally deficient''.  Now this doesn't mean it's going to fall apart at any time...but it does mean plans to rebuild it should be sped up.  There is also talk of maybe making the bridge higher.

This is a very popular bridge and if you live in the area, you might want to attend the meeting on Tuesday.  The Miami Herald is reporting the public forum meeting will be held at the Gallery One Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel, 2670 E. Sunrise Blvd.

After the meeting why not walk over to Galleria and have dinner at one of their great new restaurants (PF Changs, Capitol Grill, Season's 52) or the great Food Court (see my previous report on their top notch eatery).

(Updated 4/1/08..Thanks for pointing out the bridge location error Mr. Jones)

That's the wrong bridge you have pictured. The small bridge that goes over the Middle River is the one that will be replaced (next to Boarders/George English Park)
