New water rules for South Florida start April 18.

It's been a wet few months here in South Florida and we are finally getting some needed relief. Starting on April 18th, homeowners can begin to water their lawns twice a week. That's up from the once a week rule enforced on January 15th. Lake Okeechobee is still below normal, but it's up 4 inches from this time last year.
You still should conserve water the best you can since I have a feeling that Florida might decide on some tough year-round restrictions. Why not start now? The best way is to plant Florida native plants in your yard. They are drought resistant and are used to going without water for long periods of time. They also take less water to keep healthy.
The new rules starting April 18th:
-Odd-numbered addresses can water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
-Even-numbered addresses can water on Thursdays and Sundays.
-Both even & odd-numbered addresses can only water between midnight and 10 a.m. or between 4 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. on their designated day.
**Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, Lake Worth and Lantana will remain under once a week rules.
