Restaurant Review: Pomperdale Deli, Ft. Lauderdale.

We stopped into this small deli today for lunch.  I've heard a lot of good things about it and finally got the chance to try it for myself.  Pomperdale Deli has been around for years and they keep packing the people in every day for breakfast and lunch (they aren't open for dinner).  They specialize in brisket and piled high pastrami.  The place is small and nothing 'grand'.  It does remind me of the small deli shops you'd find up in New York or New Jersey.  You place your order at the counter and if you are eating in...you pay AFTER you eat.

The sandwiches are GREAT and they do pile them pretty high.  I ordered the Joyce on rye which consists of Roast Beef, Hot Pastrami and cole slaw (on the sandwich).  Jeff got the Reuben which is made with Hot Pastrami.  The meat is very high quality and you get plenty for the $8 price.  I even hear that the source of their meat is a guarded secret.

We both suggest stopping in and giving them a try.  If you live Pastrami...this place is a MUST!

Pomperdale Deli is located at:
3055 E. Commercial Blvd.
Ft. Lauderdale, FL

(Between US1 and Bayview)

My Market is another great local spot. It's located at the corner of 17th Street and I believe 3rd Avenue...just west of the railroad tracks / across the street from Croissant Park. Best subs around; worth checking out IMO.
