Disney knows customer service.

Everyone has their opinions on the Mouse.  Sure, it's a huge company with so many different divisions.  But we here in Florida think of one thing when we hear the word Disney....Disney World Resort and Orlando.  With 4 theme parks and seemingly countless hotel rooms, you'd think that the customer service would suffer.  When you hear one story of bad service at Disney, you often hear three positive stories.

I recently read a story about a family that discovered that they had accidentally thrown away three rings (Platinum and Diamond...so they weren't cheap).  The family was told that the trash was already on it's way to the incinerator and there was nothing they (the hotel) could do.  Little did the family realize, the housekeeper took the trash on a different route - the room's trash was in a standard 'large trash' bin. When the the Executive Housekeeper found that out...he organized a search team.  The team geared up in protective clothing and sifted through all of the trash and ended up finding all three rings.  A call was placed to the family and all was well.  Now that is what I call customer service.

It reminded me of a similar customer service incident I had at EPCOT years ago.  It was the end of our day at the park and it was closing and was right around Christmas.  We got to the car and my friend realized that his car keys dropped out of his pocket someplace in the park.  We went to lost & found with no luck.  Lost & Found then told us they would call someone to meet us at the car so we walked back and waited.  Within about 10 minutes a van pulled up.  She told us she was with the 'engineering team' and would try to help us out.  Sure, they could have used the 'slim-jim' to get us into the car...but there was no key to start the engine.

The nice woman called a co-worker and a 2nd van pulled up.  They told us that if we could get the trunk open, many cars (back then) had serial numbers on them and they could possibly 'cut a key' that would work with the engine.  I don't really remember how they got the trunk open..but I do remember it was without any damage.  They removed the trunk lock and found the number and cut a key.  IT WORKED!  They put the trunk lock back in and the car started!  They didn't charge us or take any tip.  They were the nicest people I've ever dealt with at a theme park.  I was impressed on how they kept us calm and all of them stayed with us until the issue was resolved.

The story about the 'rings' proves that there are still some great Disney workers that go that extra mile and help guests in need.
