Florida Senate hard at work...about Caller ID?

It seems that the Florida Senate is hard at work on getting a very important bill passed.  It could change how everyone lives and could make things easier for every Floridian.  Could it have to do with the soaring property insurance?  Maybe it has to do with Florida's property tax mess?  Nope.  It's regarding your Caller ID system.

This new "Anti-Spoofing Act" would make it a misdemeanor for anyone to enter 'false' information into a Caller ID system in order to 'get around' the current DO NOT CALL list.  They basically set up websites that reroute the true identity of the caller and trick the person (and Caller ID system) into thinking it's a friend or known caller.

While I agree this is an issue that should be addressed, does it really deserve the attention now?  I'd be really curious to know how much time this is taking up at the State Senate.  There are so many other issues we Floridians need help with (such as tax and insurance) and to waste time on this Caller ID 'spoofing' act is a shame.  Especially when the problem can be solved by just hanging up your phone.
