Ick. Some places you never would think harbor germs.

For all of you that like to use anti-bacterial soap or carry around hand sanitizer...this entry is for you.  I've found some interesting places that can carry some harmful bacteria that you probably wouldn't think of.  While we can't live in a bubble...you might find these places interesting.

-Restaurant Lemon Wedge.  We've been hearing for some time on this one.  I've worked in a restaurant and know that most places don't throw away the wedges daily.  The process to slice the wedges are often not done by the kitchen staff...but rather the wait staff.  Some alarming amounts of e. coli have been found in repeated tests.  You might want to have them 'hold the fruit' on your next drink.

-Restaurant Menu.  I've seen some gross menus in my day and know for a fact most places do not wash them regularly if at all.  Not much you can go here except watch where you place the menu.  You don't want to put it on your silverware or bread plate.  Ick.

- Grocery Carts.  Think of all the people that use them along with the children that ride along.  Also think of the raw meat and other icky stuff that is carted around in them.  The good thing is that most places (like Publix) have those wipes by the carts.  Make sure you take one and wipe down the cart handle.

-Vacuum Cleaner.  Your vacuum is run all over the house.  From the kitchen to the bedroom and even sometimes your bathroom.  Lots of icky things can get sucked up into the machine and stick onto the brush.  A good way to prevent bacteria buildup is to spray a disinfectant onto the brush after every use.

Hopefully this info and the hints can help you and your family stay healthy.
