Restaurant Review: Wilton Wings, Wilton Manors/Ft. Lauderdale

I'm sure you can guess the 'specialty' at 'Wilton Wings Restaurant' on the Ft. Lauderdale/Wilton Manors border.  Yup..you guess it, WINGS!  Over the years this building has been a few different restaurants, but the owners of Wilton Wings have done it right.  It's a casual place located on NE4th Ave (the same street that turns into Wilton Drive as you drive North) and they've done a great job giving the place a face lift.

We stopped in for lunch today and I must say that I'm glad we did.  Not only were the wings great...the burgers we ordered were top notch as well.  The wait staff was friendly and the place was clean.  There are some booths and tables in the dining room and you can also place orders to go.  I saw a sign that they also now serve draft beer...what goes better with wings??

(The dining room of Wilton Wings looks fresh and comfortable.)

While the specialty is wings here, the do offer a great selection of other options.  'Starters' include some fried favorites like Corn Nuggets, Onion Rings, Curly and Criss Cut Fries.  They also have a variety of 'sides' to choose from (Homemade Cole Slaw & Potato Salad...Baked Beans and Macaroni Salad).  Sandwiches, Burgers, Baby Back Ribs and some 'big' salads for the lighter eaters as well dot the menu.  They even offer a few Homemade Soups!

We ordered 10 wings for our appetizer.  You can't come here and not try the wings right?  You choose your sauce when you order.  Choices include... Mild, Medium, Hot, Bar-B-Q, Teriyaki, Raspberry, Cajun, Honey, Lemon Pepper, Honey Mustard, Hibachi & Jerk.  Wow.  We opted for the Hibachi (BBQ and Teriyaki mixed).  The wings came HOT and slathered with more than enough sauce.  The sauce was great and wasn't too 'overpowering'.  The bleu cheese dressing seemed to be homemade and was very tasty as well.  You also can order extra garlic on your wings for a bit more money.  We'll do that next time.

For the main portion of our lunch, we went for the Chargrilled Burgers.  I got the Cheddar Burger with fries and Jeff ordered the Bleu Cheese and Bacon Burger with fries.  Not only did they pile on the cheese...but the actual burger itself was very large and tasted FRESH.  The lettuce, tomato and onions were also high quality and fresh.   We both really enjoyed the burgers and totally will order them again.

Overall we really liked the place.  It's a casual wing spot that feels a bit 'upscale' when it comes to the food quality.  Hopefully, they will keep the quality up and will be in the neighborhood quite a while longer.  Total bill without tip and 2 soft drinks ran $29.  Not exactly 'value menu' prices...but the quality and potion definitely made up for it...and lets face it...prices are going up EVERYWHERE.
