Turtle nesting season is thru October.
On a trip to Ft. Lauderdale Beach this morning, I noticed that all the street lights along A1A were partially 'covered' by black bags. I wondered what the heck this was for.

Then I saw the sign below and it all made sense. It's still 'Sea Turtle Nesting Season'. That's when the sea turtles made the trip from the sea to the beach and lay their eggs. The eggs hatch and the little baby sea turtles are supposed to make their way to the sea...usually at night. The problem? Lights attract the baby turtles and the streetlights will also disorient them and likely lead them to their death.

The sea turtles are also protected by law...so if you see an area on the beach marked off like in my picture below...be sure to stay clear. You could be in big trouble if you are caught messing with it.
