Restaurant Review: Chili's Too, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport - Terminal 1

I usually don't review 'airport' restaurants, but I just had to review this one.  Chili's Too is located inside of the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.  I think they might have more than one (in different terminals), but I'm just going to review the one in Terminal 1.

Terminal 1 is a smaller terminal but actually quite nice.  The food options are very slim...especially for breakfast.  My flight on Thursday was at 9 AM, so I decided to grab something to kill some time at the airport.  BAD IDEA.  In the past Chili's Too used to be closed for breakfast and your only options were a sandwich at Dunkin Donuts (under the heat lamps..ick) or a pizza place that serviced a breakfast plate (nasty scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes).  Well now the pizza place doesn't serve breakfast but Chili's Too had a sign "Now Serving Breakfast!"....like they were so excited about it.

The breakfast menu is pathetic.  Only 3 options to choose from:
- Classic Breakfast (scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage and toast).
- Breakfast Tacos (2 flour tortilla's with scrambled eggs, tomatoes and cheese and potatoes)
- A muffin and a piece of fruit.

I chose the Breakfast Tacos and the server talked be into adding on a side of bacon.  The plate of food looked good.  That just proves how looks can be deceiving.  The bacon was cold and had no taste.  The eggs were hot, but they were those cheap 'buffet' scrambled eggs...you know the ones.  The potatoes were 'ok'.  After a taste of the food I realized....they had the SAME EXACT FOOD as the pizza place used to!  EXACTLY!  So now you not only get horrible quality food...you have to tip someone and wait to get served.  I don't even want to know how their lunch or dinner is...and for the $11 I paid for the crap plate, can you imagine lunch/dinner??

It's embarrassing that our food options are so poor at the airport here, especially since some airports have top quality food.  I'm not even talking 'high end'...just good quality.  Why not build some regionally specific food..maybe a latin restaurant or something like that?  Don't we have enough of these less than exciting chains everywhere??

Sorry I didn't take a picture of the food...I just snapped one of the restaurant.
