Reader Input: Beach Place adding a CVS and a possible renovation.
Faithful FTL Today reader Neal seems to be working overtime. He's sent another article that visitors of Ft. Lauderdale Beach will find interesting. A CVS is a GREAT move for the beach and lets hope the rumors of a renovation of Beach Place are true. Thanks Neal!

For Coast side residents and visitors the location of a CVS at Beach Place will be a major convenience. Work is progressing rapidly and it may be open in time for beginning of the "Season". Perhaps they will offer validated or free parking? This leaves in question the fate of the CVS across from the Galeria Mall, which has plenty of free parking.
As for the rest of Beach Place I have heard rumors of a major renovation. The empty space above Lulu's (the former home of Cafe Iguana) is an eyesore, particularly given its location directly next door to the Ritz Carlton. The commercial space at Beach Place is somewhat shabby and hopefully the struggling restaurant and shop owners will benefit from the rumored renovation. With oil dropping from $145/barrel to around $90/barrel perhaps airfares to and from Ft. Lauderdale will be affordable for tourists and residents?
As a local resident who enjoys NFL I have found the best place to watch an NFL football game which is not broadcast on Comcast is to walk to Sloppy Joe's (second floor of Beach Place). If you can get a seat at the outside bar you are facing their big widescreen TV. Turn around and you have the best view of the beach. Sloppy Joe's has the Direct TV Sunday ticket so you can wander around and check scores on the many TV screens they have scattered around the restaurant. A bonus for us guys is that the Hooters girls come in to check the scores throughout the day! Hooters is located a few feet from the entrance to Sloppy Joe's. The food at Sloppy Joe's is not for anyone looking for a gourmet meal or for anyone on a low fat diet. Football, the beach, the babes and the beer ... a piece of heaven for us locals.
