New Marlins stadium proposal moves closer to reality.

The Florida State Supreme Court recently reversed a decision that could allow the new proposed 'Florida Marlins Stadium' to move forward. Last year, the court ruled that no 'public' money could be used to fund a stadium...but today they changed their minds. The stadium would benefit the surrounding area and raise property taxes and also bring business and revenue, which would benefit the 'public'.
The ruling isn't a total 'green light' for the project, but could make it easier to move along. While the stadium wouldn't be funded with 'public' money, the surrounding area would. There are a few other legal hurdles to jump over, but hopefully this will be decided soon. Baseball played in a Football stadium is just...well...stupid.

Miami needs to spend $1 Billion on a world class university ... not a new stadium. If the Miami/Broward metro area is ever going to have a hope of competing with areas like San Francisco Bay Area's diversified economy we need world class Universities turning out graduates with high tech degrees. Taxpayer money for a University yes, another sports stadium .. no! Let's franchise Stanford or Harvard or MIT in South Florida!
