Convention Center proposed Hilton Hotel location change.

The Hilton Hotel that is being planed to be built next to the Broward Convention Center is still moving forward with planning.  They are thinking that the project won't need major financing until 2010 and are hoping that the credit mess will be cleared up by then.  The project calls for a 27-story 'wave' like hotel structure off of the 17th Street Causeway.  A decision was recently made to move it's location slightly west to protect views from the causeway.  This not only satisfies some of the concern some groups had over the location, but the hotel planers are happy as well.  With this move, the hotel's ballrooms and restaurants can now face the water giving guests a better view.

The convention center needs the hotel, but talk about bad timing.  It should be interesting to see if this project will get underway in 2010.
