Restaurant Review: Myron's Delicatessen - The Isle Casino, Pompano Beach
Myron's Delicatessen is located inside of the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach. While I've been to the casino many times, I never seemed to make it to Myron's. I always hit the buffet for lunch if I'm there since it's such a great deal...but this time the buffet was only serving brunch at $15 and I didn't feel like having half of my lunch options taken away for breakfast stuff...so I decided to try Myron's.
The outside of the restaurant is clean and polished. You can actually look through a window and see the kitchen from outside. It's a nice touch since you know they have to keep the kitchen spotless.
Once inside, they do a good job trying to make you feel you are in a NYC Deli. It's relaxing and enough memorabilia on the walls to entertain. The decor reminded me a lot of Canter's Deli in the Mirage Casino in Las Vegas.

The menu is traditional deli fare with breakfast served all day. They do have a little more than sandwiches though. You could easily hit this place for dinner and find a steak or other larger portion to satisfy. I ordered the 'Steak Sandwich' special and Jeff ordered the Ruben. We also ordered a side of french fries. Soft drinks are served by the can, which was a little disappointing..since you have to pay for a refill. The strange thing is that this is the second restaurant I've been to recently that does this. Weird. The server brought our drinks right away and set down a bowl with a few pickles (one full sour, one half sour) and red peppers. The pickles were 'eh'. I'm not really a pickle person. Jeff didn't like them either and he loves pickles.

I'm guessing that our food took a little longer due to the steak since the people next to us got their breakfast much quicker. The steak sandwich was ordered 'medium' and came out medium-medium/well. Not too bad though for a deli. It was actually done much better than my steak at J. Mark's a few weeks ago. The only thing I would suggest is they should serve some kind of sauce (A1 or something) with it. It tasted ok, but was a bit tough. It's kind of hard to eat a sandwich with tough meat.
The Ruben was piled with meat but not as big as some of the local deli's serve. Jeff was happy with his choice and actually had to ditch the bread so he could finish all the meat and sauerkraut. He said it was an 'ok' sandwich, but nothing to race back for.
The fries were hot and fresh and were served in a cool cone-type holder. These types of things actually score points for me. It is always nice to see little touches like this in a restaurant. The fries were the best thing at lunch for me.
Our total bill was $27.84, but that is with $2.59 cents of slot points redeemed. I don't play slots that much to get free meals, but I'm glad they let you redeem smaller point values. A few dollars...is a few dollars.
On the way out, we saw the deli counter with a ton of food. The deserts looked great, but we were way too full to think about them.

While these are not 'Subway' $5 footlong prices, the meal wasn't that expensive considering it was inside of a casino. The food was 'ok' but not something to brag to your friends about. That being said, I would consider this as only an alternative to the buffet at The Isle. The buffet is reasonably priced and quite good and could actually work out to be less money than your meal at Myron's.
