Yankee Clipper Hotel way past it's prime.
Let me start off by saying that I really hope that the Yankee Clipper Hotel on Ft. Lauderdale Beach is next in line for a renovation. I've never done a walk through of the property in the many years I've lived here and I must say...this property is long past it's prime.
(Yankee Clipper sign - should say 'enter at your own risk')
The location is key, which makes the condition of the hotel puzzling. It's 'sister' hotel a little farther north on A1A (the Yankee Trader) is closed for a major renovation. Once open it will be a Hyatt Resort. A big change. The Yankee Clipper is located VERY close to the beach and consists of 2 buildings. I only made it into the lobby and didn't really like what I saw.
The bar/lounge was a dated dark hole that resembled an old boat. The restaurant was empty...and the lobby was gross. Not only was the place a dump...but not one worker even said "Good Morning". They all looked like they hated life. At least at the Ritz-Carlton, everyone I saw said "Good Morning".
(Yankee Clipper nasty dated lobby)
This is a true budget hotel in appearance, but I don't think that they charge budge prices. I would suggest to stay elsewhere until this property does some upgrades. Now I didn't get to see a room...but I can't believe that they would be any nicer than the lobby....ick.

"...At least at the Ritz-Carlton, everyone I saw said "Good Morning"...."
Yeah, I don't know if I'd compare the Yankee Clipper to a Ritz Carlton...
