Plantation Mall finally gets new plans approved.
The Plantation Mall used to be home to Macy's & Lord & Taylor closed a few years ago. The Bonefish Grill & Margaritaville closed soon after leaving the whole complex empty and quite the eye soar. Well yesterday the Plantation City Council approved plans to demolish the property and allow the owners of the mall (321 North) to build a shiny new complex.
Included in the plans:
-590 new residences
-14-screen new Muvico upscale theater with reserved seating, a restaurant and child care
-new office space in 2 new towers
The city has a height restriction of 12-stories, but that will be relaxed allowing for the 2 office buildings to go up to 16 stories.
From what I read...there is a lot of money behind this company and they are planning to move forward VERY soon. Even with the poor economy, they feel this project will be a hit.
