Oakland Park deciding on new hotel.

(Another Value Place Hotel)

Ok...this has been in the news a few times already.  It seems that a developer wants to build an 'extended stay' hotel (and I use the term hotel loosely) on Powerline Road in Oakland Park.  The name of the hotel would be Value Place and it is supposed to be a 'low cost' extended stay property.  The residents are actually not supporting this project and have been asking the city not to approve it.  They feel it will bring increased traffic and crime.

First of all, this is a horrible place for one of these 'hotels'.  Second...these extended stay hotels used to be a great idea, but have gone down hill in recent years.  We really don't need another one of these 'low cost' hotels around that area.  There already is a Red Roof Inn another 'lower cost' type hotel next door.  I'm on the side of the residents.  We don't need a hotel in that area, let alone an 'extended stay' low-cost one.  However....maybe it will be close to the Waffle House!  Or maybe by the Methadone Clinic.  I guess it's all in the placement.
