Hollywood Beach planned Marriott Ocean Village and Resort falls through.
The developers for the planned luxury property Marriott Ocean Village and Resort on Hollywood Beach recently announced that it has decided to pull the plug on the development. They were looking to build the property along A1A and Johnson Street. It would have been 16 stories and have cost a whopping $100 million to build. They stated that the economy is the main reason along with the belief that the city would have a problem holding it's side of the bargain (building a 1,600 parking garage).
I guess timing was just a little off for this project. No announcement has been made on what, if anything, will be done with the land. I'm sure we won't find out for a year or so. The city is anxious to develop this site since all that is there is an old parking structure that is falling apart. These hotel deals always come and go...so on to the next.
