Village at Gulfstream signs some tenants.
The Village at Gulfstream hasn't really been on schedule. A few delays and now a weak economy has some worried about the timing. However, it's been announced that the shopping/entertainment complex has signed 18 shops, 12 restaurants and two nightclubs. Not too bad considering all the issues in the retail sector. While all the store slots are not filled, 32 isn't bad. Add the Gulfstream casino that is within steps and the race track and you might have a smaller alternative to the Seminole Hard Rock. The Mardi Gras Gaming casino is just down the street too.
Big names home store chains Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel and Williams Sonoma signed on along with Brio Tuscan Grill. The $245 million Village at Gulfstream complex will be home to 70 stores and restaurants and is scheduled to open in February 2010. I can virtually see the Gulfstream Casino and Racing owners counting the days. Their casino has trailed behind the 2 other Broward racinos and way behind Seminole Hard Rock. We'll have another year to see if the Village helps.
