I-595 rebuilding project expected to create 35,000 jobs.

Officials say that the jobs associated with the I-595 project will be listed with the Agency for Workforce Innovation. The contractor for the project (ACS Infrastructure Development) is located in Spain, but it's subcontractors and partners will be all local. ACS will have 150 days after the contract is signed to begin construction. That means...if there are no delays...the construction could begin in late July or August. There is also a possibility that some prep work will start as early as May.
The construction will be a huge mess for commuters...but a bright spot in our local economy. Once completed, I-595 should look much different than today and will hopefully be poised to handle future population growth. There will be a number of additional lanes added, some will be 'reversible express lanes' as well as new exit ramps. They are also setting aside some land for a possible 'light-rail' project.
The project will cost around $1.79 billion.
