Trump International Hotel & Towers Ft. Lauderdale Beach still moving along.
The Trump International Hotel & Towers Ft. Lauderdale Beach (what a mouth-full) has been taking a long time to finish. It's actually a condo-hotel and is scheduled to open in October this year (2009). Not much has changed on the outside. I did notice a worker inside of the 'front building', just sitting at a desk. He looked like a construction manager.
The property is split into two sections. The main tower is in back, which houses most of the condo/hotel rooms. The front building looks like it might house retail or restaurant space on the ground floor. Above the ground floor appears to be condo/hotel rooms. The main parking is located in the lower portion of the main tower. Sky-walks connect the parking to the top of the front building (see the picture below). The street entrance to the main tower looks a bit boring. I will be interested to see what this place looks like when it opens. From what I can see on the outside...I'm not too excited. Then again, Trump properties usually a bit 'dry' in my opinion.

Here are some facts I found about the Trump Ft. Lauderdale-
*Trump Ft. Lauderdale Beach will have 298 one and two bedroom suites.
*The main tower will raise 24-stories.
*The Trump Ft. Lauderdale Beach was designed by world-renowned architect Michael Graves.
*The building's exterior is modeled after an art-deco 1925-cruise liner.
*A spa and a tropical pool is on-site.
*A fine dining restaurant (yet to be named).
*2,400 square-feet of meeting space.
I'm thinking that the property will be identified more as a condo than a hotel. While they are saying the Trump Ft. Lauderdale will open in October 2009...only time will tell. The property has already been delayed a few times and Trump seems to be having some snags in other hotel businesses...like his casino/hotel brand. Lets hope all works out in the end and Ft. Lauderdale Beach visitors welcome The Donald with open arms...and wallets.
