I'm sure everyone hates to hear a fire alarm and hates to evacuate. Most of the time...it's a false alarm, but on occasion, it's not. This morning at around 4:30 AM, a small fire in a room a the Harbor Beach Marriott forced 250 guests and workers from the hotel. The sprinklers put out the fire by the time firefighters arrived to the property. No injuries were reported, but 5 rooms suffered heavy water damage from the sprinklers. All guests staying in rooms impacted by the water damage have been relocated to other rooms in the hotel. They've done a great job renovating the hotel, so I'm glad the situation wasn't worse.
It's great to see that the hotel has such an effective fire sprinkler system. Let this be a lesson too...if you hear a fire alarm, don't ignore it, no matter where you are. You just never know.
