Look for changes to the Florida Turnpike Service Plazas soon.

The Florida Turnpike officials have awarded a contract to Areas USA to demolish and rebuild all eight Service Plazas along the turnpike.  The 30-year contract will not only bring new buildings, but some of the vendors will also be changing.

Starbucks will be out...and Dunkin Donuts will be in.  Citgo gas will be out and Shell will be in.

Not all of the changes have been released yet, but I'm glad to see these are getting attention.  In my recent trip to visit my parents up in The Villages....the service plazas are looking a bit  old and tired.  For a state that prides itself on it's huge tourism business...we need to keep up our appearances.  Lets keep our fingers crossed that some of the food options will be updated and upgraded as well.  You can only eat so much Burger King & Miami Subs.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Area USA will make a $160.2 million capital investment in the project and they will also create around 1,550 jobs through the construction process.
