Last minute July 4th 2009 events around Broward County - Ft. Lauderdale.

I found this in the Sun-Sentinel...seems like it gets harder to find all of this information every year...or they wait until last minute.  Don't forget that many stores and malls have 'Sunday' hours today for the Holiday.  You can also catch a movie...all theaters are open:


The All-American Fourth in Deerfield Beach starts early with great old school grooves. Local r&b treasure Joey Gilmore kicks it off at 7 tonight, followed by Final Countdown. On Saturday, Smugglin' Yo-Yo's play 3:30-5 p.m. before our other r&b treasure, Valerie Tyson, warms it up 6-7 p.m. for headliner the Association at 7:30 p.m. The group had all of those hummable pop hits in the mid '60s (Along Comes Mary, Cherish, Windy and Never My Love.)

Also, children's activities and interactive games from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Mad Bomber fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

Main Parking Lot, Southeast First Street and Ocean Way, one block south of Hillsboro Boulevard. Free parking at Cove Shopping Center, 1500 E. Hillsboro Blvd., with shuttle service from 4-11:30 p.m. today and noon to midnight Saturday. At the beach, drop off and pick up will be at Ocean Way and Southeast Third Street. Paid parking is at USA Deerfield Beach Parking Garage, A1A, one block north of Hillsboro Boulevard. deerfield-beach.com.

Coral Springs: Games and entertainment for all ages from 6-9:30 p.m. There may be a small fee for some activities. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Sportsplex, 2575 Sportsplex Drive (east of Sawgrass Expressway). Entrance is available through Royal Palm Boulevard. Parking is $3/car. coralsprings.org/events.

Dania Beach: Patriotic Laser Light Show starts 8:30 p.m. at the pier. Sugardaddys (r&b) and Rough Shot (country) perform.

Davie: Cool off at 10 a.m. with a free family splash pool party featuring a DJ. Plus World War I and II military equipment show, bounce houses, climbing wall and free birthday cake. Purchase food or bring your own; grills and tables available. Country music group Shadow Creek kicks off festivities at 6 p.m. in the ball fields, fireworks at 9 p.m. Pine Island Park, 3800 SW 92nd Ave. davie-fl.gov.

Get to Vista View Park early to get the best seats to see fireworks displays across Broward County. Bring beach chairs and blankets. Food vendors on site. 6-11 p.m. at 4001 SW 142nd Ave. $5 per vehicle or $1.50 for walk-ins, bicycles and motorcycles.

Fort Lauderdale: Fireworks at 9 p.m. on the beach at Las Olas Boulevard.

Hollywood: Patriotic and pop music, marching bands, children's activities and Uncle Sam on the beach and along the auto-free Broadwalk from 5-10 p.m. Offshore fireworks at 9 p.m.

Laser show, strolling musicians, dancers, DJ today. Musically synchronized fireworks 9 tonight at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, One Seminole Way.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea: Beach Blast begins with a parade at 10 a.m., headed north on Bougainvillea from Town Hall to Pine Avenue. Join the fun 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at El Prado Park, El Prado and El Mar drives. Amusement park, classic car show, DJ and steel drum music. Fireworks shot off at the beach at El Prado Drive at 8:30 p.m. lauderdalebythesea-fl.gov.

Margate: Symbols of Freedom parade begins at 9 a.m. on the west end of Margate Boulevard at 76th Street and continues east to Golub Municipal Complex at 58th Avenue. Fireworks 9 p.m. at Margate Sports Complex, 1755 Banks Road. margatefl.com.

Miramar: Ages 12 and younger can compete in the Bubble Gum Blowing Contest. Adults can participate in the All American Apple Pie Eating Contest and the new I Can't See My Ice Cream Contest for couples. Prizes will be awarded for first place winners. Plus music from Lu White Combo, inflatable rides and face painting. 6 p.m. at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway.

Pembroke Pines: Patriotic arts and crafts for children, game booths with prizes, rides and live music starting at 7 p.m. Snack vendors on site. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Free 3-D glasses will be distributed for fireworks at 9 p.m. Pines Recreation Center, 7400 Pines Blvd. ppines.com.

Plantation: A parade begins 9 a.m. at West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 46th Ave., traveling west to Northwest 69th Avenue and ending at City Hall. Top 40s band Groove Line performs at 7:30 p.m., followed by Bay Fireworks at 9 p.m. Hot dog, burger and soda sales benefit Plantation Athletic League. Pompano Beach: Fireworks begin promptly at 9 p.m. on the city's main public beach, north and side of the fishing pier by Atlantic Boulevard. Blankets and lawn chairs OK. Rain date is Sunday. mypompanobeach.org.

Sunrise: Grand marshal Stanley C. Panther leads a patriotic parade starting 10 a.m. from Northwest 12th Street along Sunset Strip to City Park, 6700 Sunset Strip. Rides, kids' fun and free food will be available there until 1 p.m. The party then moves to BankAtlantic Center parking lots from 6-10 p.m. (rain or shine) and will include bounce houses, Thomas the Tank train, face painters and food vendors. Music by Nobody's Fault begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by Love Child. Lawn chairs and umbrellas OK. Fireworks at 9 p.m. at One Panther Parkway. sunrisefl.gov.

Tamarac: Family games and music, Betsy Ross and Uncle Sam, food vendors from 6-9:30 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Continuous round-trip shuttle from City Hall and Tamarac Community Center 5:30-8:30 p.m. and following fireworks. Rain date is Sunday. Tamarac Sports Complex, 9901 NW 77th St. tamarac.org.
