Restaurant Review: Diner 24, Wilton Manors/Oakland Park.
Diner 24 just opened a few weeks ago in the old CC's Fish Camp location. The outside got a face lift and some bold paint colors along with a whole concept change. I believe that the owners are the same (they also own the Moonlite Diner on Cypress Creek), since I saw some of them on our recent visit. The inside decor looks about the same as CC's. There is more of a 'Diner' atmosphere, which is great. The consists of your typical diner fare...Breakfast, Lunch and some Dinner Plates. The best of all? The prices. A hamburger is only $4.99 and you can make it a deluxe for $1 more. $5.99 is a great price point for a burger. Another thing I liked about Diner 24 was that the menu wasn't too large. You know there are some Diners out there that give you a large 'book' to chose your meal from. Those always worry me. Do they have enough customers to keep the food fresh? Well, Diner 24 keeps it simple, fresh and prices low.
(Diner 24 inside)I got a bacon cheese burger (bacon and cheese are a little extra) deluxe and Jeff ordered the Blu Cheese Burger deluxe. The total including two sodas (unlimited refills) was $16.48 (plus tip). Not too bad huh? That's including the extra charge for cheese and bacon. I saw great prices for breakfast too...like Skirt Steak and eggs for $6.99.

(Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe)

(Bleu Cheeseburger Deluxe)
(The total bill for lunch.)The service was great as well. We were often checked on and our sodas never went dry. Another great thing about Diner 24 is that they are open 24 hours on Friday and Saturdays.

I know where I'm going for my next meal. The place looks like a great place for a burger. I'm definity going to try the place out.

We "long-timers" only know buildings by what they ORIGINALLY were... and I believe this is the old Lum's on Oakland Park Blvd.
Pity you didn't give any hints as to what the "dinner plates" might consist of... what kind of entrees (meatloaf? skirt steak? chicken fried steak? fried chicken?), prices, etc. Is there a daily special or an "early bird" special? Any reason to go certain days of the week?
Thanks for reviewing, though... I was looking for a review before I tried it myself. From the outside, I saw some neon signs inside so I wasn't sure if it was decorated as a sports bar with restaurant or what... And thanks for including the prices of what you ate, especially after mentioning the Moonlite Diner, because we know that place is too expensive!
