Best Buy's store pickup feature saves time and could save you money.

I tried the Best Buy 'in-store' pickup feature that is offered on their website for the first time about 2 years ago.  Back then, it was kind of new and there were lots of issues with it.  It would take you hours to get all of the necessary confirmations that your order was ready...and really didn't save any time.  Well...I'm happy to report...things have changed.

About a month ago, I was in the market for a new digital camera.  I wanted a Sony Cybershot and went into the store to get a price.  It was a little high and was going to wait for it to go on sale.  So the next day I looked on Best Buy's website.  Hmmm.  It was being offered at a LOWER PRICE than in the store!  It was actually lower than their previous sale price.  I decided to buy it online and give the 'store pickup' option another try.  I was surprised on how fast the transaction went this time.  Within 15-20 minutes, I has received all the necessary emails that my order was ready to be picked up at the Ft. Lauderdale location on US1 (you choose the store you want...and can search for other locations if your item is hot...like the Wii).

Once I got to the store, there wasn't much of a line and my order was waiting for me.  I was out of the store in 10 minutes.  I could get used to this.  No sales people trying to pressure you...you know the item is in stock when you order.  It's pretty cool.  I even tested the service in Michigan when I was there a few weeks ago..and it worked like a charm.

So the bottom line?  I would begin to use the Best Buy website 'store-pickup' feature for most of my purchases.  You save time...and there is a really good shot you are going to save money since their website searches and compares it's prices with other online retailers.  They want to be competitive so they will adjust prices lower if needed.
