City of Parkland begins it's target on drivers that text.

The Broward County city of Parkland took a step forward on banning texting on cellphones while driving yesterday.  City Commissioners overwhelmingly approved such a ban, while reviewing a Virginia study on the safety of the driving while texting.  The study showed that drivers that text are 23 percent more likely to be involved in a car crash.  (I think it might be higher).

The final vote will take place soon...and if passed into law, it would make Parkland the first city in Broward with such a ban.  I'm still amazed that talking on a cellphone while driving is allowed.  Some states only allow cellphones with 'hands-free' devices.  I know I'll get some hate...but I think this is a good ban.  How many times have you almost been hit by someone on a cellphone not paying attention to the road?  Buy a bluetooth device and keep everyone a little safer.

Watch...the next cellphone technology is a 'talk-to-text' function.  Rather than type your text...speech recognition would turn your words to text to send.  It would be one way around the texting while driving ban.   That's really a joke...what that service would really be is...talking on the phone!
