Sad story for family of Weston Spa visitor.
A trip to the local Spa this week, turned into a tragedy for one visitor and her family. Rohie Kah-Orukotan visited the Weston Spa on Friday and now lays brain dead on life support. Rohie, a nurse and mother of three, went into the spa for a 'minimally invasive' procedure. What that procedure is...remains a mystery. There is an active investigation into the case...first to see if any previous medical issues might have caused Rohie's side effect...then to see if the spa was preforming procedures it has no license for.
Many Spas in the area offer all kinds of services...from manicures, massages to tanning. However, there are a few that offer procedures that are more thought of as 'medical'. For example...a doctor is allowed to perform liposuction in his office only if it is a 'mild' case and only very small amounts of a local anesthetic is used. It is still not known if this is the procedure Rohie was having when she slipped into a coma.
The Weston Spa does not have a license saying is a physical surgical office, where these minor 'lipo' procedures can be done. This is a great example to everyone out there looking for any plastic surgery. It is your responsibility as the patient, to do all the checks and research about the facility you plan on using. This isn't a haircut or a message. Lipo and even Botox is a medical procedure and should be left only to licensed professional physicians.
If you need some help finding reviews of facilities and physicians, you can use Angie's List. It's a great place to start.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rohie's family.
