This is my kind of ship! Oasis of the Seas.

The world's largest cruise ship is now on it's way to Port Everglades.  The Oasis of the Seas is one huge ship.  Royal Caribbean put the finishing touches and launched the ship from Finland.  Oasis of the Seas will make it's way to it's new home in Ft. Lauderdale's Port Everglades and will be ready for it's first voyage on November 11, 2009.

I've never been on a cruise and was thinking about heading out on Royal Caribbeans Liberty of the Seas (that sails out of Miami)...but now that Oasis is in my back yard...that might be the ship to try.  Oasis of the Seas will carry close to 6,000 passengers and has so many activities, you really don't even need to leave the ship.

If you have cruised many times...this ship will be a much different experience.  Not only is the ship brand new...but the layout is a bit different.  The ship is set up in different 'neighborhoods' and actually has a kind of 'central park' with real plants and trees.  The 'tropical' area will have up to 12,000 plants/trees to make you feel as if you are on an island.  There is a 750-seat outdoor theater that also doubles as a swimming pool by day.  The indoor theater seats 1,300 guests and is a state of the art facility that will allow for some high-production shows.

A new cruise concept on the Oasis of the Seas is the loft.  Loft cabins measure 545 sq feet and have floor to ceiling windows.  There are also some huge suites.  Those measure 1,600 sq feet.  That's as big as a house!

There are many shops, restaurants and bars as well.  One bar, called "Riding Tide" is the first 'moving bar' at sea.  The bar moves up and down on three decks and allows guests to get on and off at different levels.

The ship is actually a moving city and is sure to have anything a traveler could want.  I'm hoping they are going to offer some resident specials so I can check it out and give my review.
