Film Studios looking to set up shop in Pembroke Pines.

Pembroke Pines, FL might become the new Film Capital of the Eastern US. At least that what many are hoping. Currently, there are two film companies beginning to negotiate buying 58 acres of land in Pembroke Pines to set up shop. The Pembroke Pines city commissions recently gave the group the 'ok' to proceed with the plan. The planned location for the new Film Studio and Entertainment Complex is located on the failed 'City Center' project. This would be an excellent plan to make use of the land.

Along with a fully functional movie studio, the site would be home to two hotels, shops and restaurants. The price tag for the project is estimated at around $600 million. As you can imagine, Pembroke Pines wants to be sure that all financing is in place and is secure. The plan will still have to go through more approval phases and Pas Media of Pembroke Pines and The Studios of the Americas of Miami will hammer out a sale price and terms of the deal. Look for more details and news to emerge in mid January 2010.

If approved and the project is completed....it could bring in some serious revenue for the area...not to mention the job creation and possible tourism it will bring. South Florida is often the location of many movies and a permanent studio would only make sense.
