Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

Only in South Florida can you have flash flood advisories and tornado watched a week before Christmas!  The rain started yesterday at about 5 PM...just in time to cause some nasty commutes home from work.  I had stopped for a haircut and by 6:15...the flooding in East Ft. Lauderdale started.  It's not flooded everywhere...and not nearly as bad as a Tropical Storm...but the normal 'trouble spots' were hazardous.  Of course..by 6 PM it's dark...so you can't really see how bad the road flooding is.  At one point I could feel the water sloshing on the bottom of my car.  That was on NE6th Ave in Oakland Park.  Needless to say...I turned off as soon as I could and stuck to the main roads.

Parts of South Florida got over 7 inches of rain overnight which I think is more than we've gotten in one dose all summer.  This morning there is a tornado watch until 1 PM with more rain possible.  The good news?  A cold front is sliding through that will bring cool temperatures all week!  Finally!  Lows on Monday could be in the 40s.

The same storm will be moving to the Northeast US bringing huge amounts of snow....snow that is to be measured in feet.  With all of the cold and snow this year...South Florida might see more visitors this winter.  Come on down...the weather is going to be perfect!
