First try of Domino's Pizza 'new' pizza recipe.

Domino's Pizza has been hyping their 'new improved pizza' for a few weeks now.  The ads are all over the internet and TV.  Well, it's now in stores and you can try it for yourself.  Instead of doing the 'turkey' dinner today, we decided to give the new Domino's Pizza a try.  It has to be better then the old one right?  I never really liked Domino's.  The sauce was to sweet and the crust was heavy and bland.  The funny thing is...there is a Domino's Pizza about a block away from my condo, yet I still never go.  That's how much I didn't like it.

Domino's has had 'online ordering' for a while now and you don't even have to call them.  There are tons of online coupons too.  We happen to have one that offered 2 medium pizzas with 2 toppings for $5.99 each and free Cinna Sticks.  Not bad.

The total for all the food came out to be $12.70.  That's about 50% off!  It really pays to scour the internet for promo and coupon codes.  He actually got this code from a buddy at work.  The new pizza boxes explain what's new about the pizza.  Basically, they changed the sauce to make it a little more flavorful with a slight spicy kick....they are using fresh mozzarella with a hint of provolone.....and the new crust has a buttery garlic flavor.

The pizzas were done on time and they even give you info on the website on the 'progress' of preparing it.  It was still hot when we got home and dug in.  At first glance...it looked the same to me.  But...we thought there was a difference.

Domino's did improve it's pizza.  The sauce isn't overpowering like it used to be.  There is a slight spicy quality now, which we both liked.  The crust seemed a little 'lighter' than the old recipe and when you got to the end crust, you could really taste the difference.  The garlic/butter flavoring is pretty good.  In fact, Jeff never eats the end crust and polished off every end crust.  Now...this won't replace your local Mom & Pop pizzeria, but with some coupons lowering the price...it's a great alternative.  I liked it A LOT better than Papa Johns.

(Cinna Sticks at Domino's)

Oh...and the Cinna Sticks?  AWESOME.  It's light pizza dough covered with cinnamon, sugar and some other kind of gooey stuff to make it all stick.  I didn't even need the icing they give out.  Then again...slather butter, cinnamon and sugar on just about anything...and it'll be great.
