I remember taking our family dog to the kennel when I was a kid. We'd be excited to go on vacation…but sad for our dog. How she hated the kennel. Well…how things change. Walt Disney World in Orlando will be opening the Best Friends Pet Resort at the end of the month. This new pet resort is total Disney. Along with getting a place for your pet to sleep, the 'resort' will offer some unique items such as a water park for dogs and even a bedtime story.

The Pet Resort will house 270 dogs, 30 cats and assorted other animals…like potbellied pigs, hamsters and birds. The only pets not allowed? Snakes and reptiles. I guess they don't want any of the guests to 'be' dinner.

The standard nightly rate for dogs will run $37. Additional fees get your dog a bedtime story and/or a doggie play group. Of course there are upgrades! This is a resort after all. You can give your pooch and upgrade and put him in a 'vacation villa'. These come with an outdoor patio and a flat screen TV ($59). That's not enough? Well, go for the 226 sq foot luxury suites complete with a private outdoor playing yard and a personal pet concierge. ($225)

For the cats, you can choose a two or four story condo.

Guests can also drop pets off for just the day while they hit the parks and even drop in to check up on their pet.
