Blockbuster might file Chapter 11 in September.

Reports are circulating that Blockbuster might enter 'pre-planned' Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in September.  The Sun-Sentinel is reporting a mid-September target for the bankruptcy filing.  Chapter 11 is a 'reorganization' type of bankruptcy which will allow the company to shed some debt and close some poor preforming stores.  'Pre-planned' means that they will enter Chapter 11 with most of it's creditors aware and supporting the move.  If they do manage to make it out of Chapter 11, you might see a completely different company.  Fewer stores...more of those kiosks (that rent for a $1) and mail service (similar to Netflix).  I bet they close most of the retail stores.  They've already closed the location in Deerfield Beach on Hillsboro Blvd.

Be ahead of the curve and sign up for Blockbuster's home delivery service (similar to Netflix).  Even if the company fails...I'm sure they keep this division.  Try this service for FREE:

Blockbuster also rents video games...so if you know someone that rents them...tell them to give GameFly a try:
